........Emily
Here is a fab picture of Emily, her mum Helen, and her twin sisters Hollie & Maisie taken by a York Newspaper.
Emily has been using an insulin pump for a year and it is amazing how well Emily has coped. Mum suggested going to a meeting at Emily’s Diabetes Unit and she decided to give the pump a try. Emily was a bit wary at first, worrying about how it would all work and what it would look like. The little machine she uses for her blood tests sends a message to the pump which in turn regulates her insulin. Emily has nominated her mum for ‘parent of the year’ for being so caring and understanding. IDDT and Emily’s Grandma feel that she also deserves a great big pat on the back for the way she ‘just gets on with it’ without a moan. Well done Emily we are all really proud of you!

.........Sam
Sam was diagnosed with Type 1 in May 2009 at the age of 8 and has done amazingly well over the last six months. Sam has been very brave, and despite a fear of needles, has dealt with his diagnosis marvellously. He has now taken responsibility for taking his own blood sugar readings at home and school! Sam has learned to realise that he is no different to his friends and has a zest for life like any other child. He loves his sport and is an up and coming rugby star......watch this space!
IDDT are really impressed with you Sam and Dad, Mum and 3 year old little sister Abi all want you to know how proud they are of you and love you very much.

Zoe and Sam
Zoe aged 3
years old was diagnosed with diabetes over Christmas last
year and had to spend Christmas Day in hospital, so this
brave little girl needs a huge well done. She has amazed
everyone with how well she has coped and how she has managed
to do her own blood tests only 2 months after she was
diagnosed. Zoe’s older brother Sam has been a rock for his
little sister and has been so patient and understanding of
the all the new stuff that have arisen over the last few
months. Here at IDDT we would like to say how proud we are
of both Zoe and Sam for how well they have coped and there
is a bravery certificate on its way to both of them. |

Well done to
both of you. Everyone here at IDDT is very proud of you.

Oliver
Oliver was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at
just 5 years old, two days after Christmas 2006. Oliver had
an extremely tough time when he was diagnosed but has
bounced back and has carried on no matter what life and his
diabetes has thrown at him.
His younger sister Alexandra has been very
patient with the situation, even though she is only 4 she
knows where his finger pricker, insulin and medic kit are in
an emergency and accepts that he can behave oddly, be
tearful and get sweets at times she isn't allowed.
His Diagnoses has changed the whole families
lives so IDDT think they all need a huge well done for all
coping so incredibly well.

Cedar Road School
The
kids at Cedar Road Primary School in Northampton (Class 5EG)
have been supporting kids with diabetes by learning more
about the condition. All the kids listen and learnt about
diabetes and what to do if someone they know had a hypo. A
